Years of Rugby
The Ohio State University Rugby Football Club has been a cornerstone of Midwest rugby since 1966. Founded by two physicians at University Hospitals, the program has grown into one of the premier D1A college rugby programs in the nation.
We compete in the Big Ten Rugby Conference — East Division — and will transition to the Midwest D1A Conference in Fall 2026, aligning with CRAA for a stronger competitive path.
Our student-athletes have earned All-American honors, represented the U.S. national team as Eagles, and built a legacy of excellence on and off the pitch. With two dedicated, lit rugby fields on campus and full medical support from Ohio State Medical Center, the program provides a first-class rugby experience.
Ohio State captured the Big Ten Rugby Conference title with 14 All-Conference selections and Coach Rooney earning Coach of the Year honors.
Starting Fall 2026, Ohio State will compete in the Midwest D1A Conference alongside Lindenwood, Arkansas State, Davenport, and McKendree for a clearer CRAA playoff path.
The Buckeyes opened spring 2026 with a dominant 48-5 win over Illinois at home, then traveled to Charlotte for the Pathway Classic against Queens University.
Whether you're a prospective player, an alum, or a fan — there's a place for you in Buckeye Rugby.
